This looks really interesting! Plus, I am very interested to see where this research takes you because my daughter will be starting kindergarten this year! I like that you incorporated time in your template to go over the expectations of how to use the ipad. It looks very good, you have a great timeline with many opportunities to collect and review data. I like that you are doing the "old school"data to be able to compare the growth of the same students once you introduce the ipad. You could also think about sending home a survey to see which students are already tech savy, and you may want to see how knowledgeable the parents are as well.
ReplyDeleteI love it when I find an ARP that has to do with our little guys. Once again (I think I am a broken record) this inquiry sounds so interesting. I can definitely understand why you are waiting until January to introduce the use of the ipad. By January how many letters will you have introduced? I guess what I am wondering as I read your plan is, how are you going to determine whether is was the use of the ipad that made the difference or was it just the fact that you spiral reviewed? Maybe I'm just thinking about this all wrong. Something you might can do is look at the scores of last years students at the end of the year and compare to this years students with the use of the ipad. I'm sure this is something you have thought out. This was just a thought of mine. It is a good plan and since we are becoming more and more technology based, something that will be very informative. Good luck and look forward to following your progress
ReplyDeleteI love you wondering! Short, to the point, and clear as a bell. You work with the babies and that is awesome, who wants to do their best more than those cats? By introducing the technology at such an early age your group will be awesome right away. Kelly brings up a good point about comparing your results across a broader time scope. Look down the road as far as you can! Good work, have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is introduced earlier and earlier. I have one starting K this year and he is very competent with many types of technology. I think there is an engaging aspect to adding the Ipad to your classroom because it is comfortable to many students even as young as K. I agree that a survey of parents could be beneficial data. I wonder if a survey of the students could be helpful as well. You may be surprised at how many of them have an I pad or something similar at home that they use on a daily basis. Love your project!
ReplyDeleteYour research question is clear and concise, which makes your plan easy to follow. I am curious as to what you plan to do once you get your data analyzed. Do you plan to lobby to include technology in the teaching of the alphabet with a larger group? Good luck with your inquiry.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is always a good source of learning, even at the elementary level. Most students observe their parents using i pads and other sources of technology on a daily basis. Kids imitate their parents so they will be very active in the learning process. The question is will written and the plan is organized and flows smoothly. I feel that when you introduce the rules and expectations you should practice them with the students.
